Discussion Starter #1
I have a two bank battery set up with two group 27 Deka Seamate AGM's for the house bank, and one Deka 27 Seamate's for a starter. My starter battery just went bad and I was told by a marine surveyor and EE that I can replace the starter battery with a smaller size (group 24) instead of spending more for another group 27 battery. He told me that as long as they are all AGM's it won't be a problem in terms of charging. Therefore, I was thinking of replacing the starting battery with a Cabela's group 24 AGM (this should be powerful enough to start my Yanmar 2ym15 engine). Any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Matt

Ditto. You just have to avoid mixing wet cell, gel cell, and agm on the same charging system. Pick one of the three and you're fine.
