I am contemplating the purchase of a new anchor. My [t]rusty 60 lb CQR has done splendid service but the cost of getting it re galvanized in Trinidad is going to be around $ 250

Having been recently disappointed with the quality of the galvanizing on my anchor chain [worn out in 3 years] I would like to hear from people with a modern anchor.

Specifically how many days has it been used [approx] and how is the galvanizing standing up.

We also have had very bad service from anchor chain of late. But our Rocna, bought used and most certainly Chinese manufactured, has held up perfectly. It's been in the water something over 720 days, up and down in all kinds of bottoms, all over the West Indies. Never mind it does it's job as an anchor perfectly, as well. Remember Deshayes in mid-May?

Our Manson Supreme has been good over probably 1000 nights of use. It is getting a few very small patches of rust now but not a problem yet. If only the chain was nearly as good.
