Monocat are they Leading Edge or Bleeding Edge

Forward they are like a traditional yacht, aft they have the twin sterns of a multihull and bulb keel. The claim is monocats have excellent directional control because of the forward retractable canard foil and the twin rudders. As a consequence of this blending of design features, monocats sails to windward with the motion and high angles and speed of the performance keelboat, and yet reaches like a catamaran. With wide beam and catamaran sterns the maximum heel is restricted to just 6 degrees, and yet she still fits in a monohull marina berth.

IMHO, the are the worst of both worlds.. They're going to have the problems of both designs and make serious compromises because of it.

IMHO, the dual hulls aft are going to create more wetted surface area and provide less buoyancy than a single wider hull generally. It won't be able to gain the speed advantages of a true multihull, and won't be able to plane like some of the high-performance monohulls would.

I'd imagine they still have most of the problems a monohull of the same LOA and beam would have, and lose a lot of the interior space a traditional monohull would have due to the hull form—giving them less interior space than a traditional catamaran or monohull of the same LOA.
