I'd like to hoist my GoPro camera up my spinnaker halyard. I see a lot of videos that say this is how they created their footage, but I can't find any images or descriptions of how they mounted/secured the camera.

Have you ever done/seen this?

I think the best way to do that is with a "pig stick". It's an old nautical device for raising a flag, (or even a Christmas tree) above the mast top.

It's like a stick that has a lift point about 2/3 of the way up, a ring on the bottom, and what you want on the top. It looks sort of like;

(not my photo)

You might use a board sort of like 1" X 3" X 3 Ft.???? Or something like that. With a second line leading down from one side, you should even be able to aim the camera.

GOOD LUCK and show us the videos/photos!

Drake Paragon has a video on his youtube channel on flying a gopro from a kite. I'm planning on doing something similar with a halyard.....with a downhaul of course to bring the halyard back down.
