Hey all! I own a Morgan 382 that I currently sail out of Cobb Island, MD. We're refitting her now for an extended cruise around the Caribbean... perhaps farther! Our plan is to leave next summer, sail around the Chesapeake Bay until after hurricane season. Then, we'll head south!

Anyone, the content now will be centered around the refit. Once we leave, it will become about the journey.

I went on an extended cruise 2009-2010. I didn't want to come back and all I do is save and plan for the next one. Have fun!

Thanks, guys. This will be a dream come true. It's amazing how much work is really involved in something like this. The planning; the saving; the projects; the selling, etc. But I'm sure the payoff will be sweet!

Peoples biggest mistake is doing too much refitting. It takes people years and they never finally leave.

Its important to actually GO.

You can always do work on the way in the Caribbean in places like St Martin and Grenada. Particularly Grenada when you are stuck there for a hurricane season.

Thanks for the tip and the compliment, Mark. Yes, I've read that too many people spend too much time/month on the refit. I'm trying to remain cognizant of that fact as work my way through the list. Safety first, and then get on the water!

Get going and fix things on the road. That way, you get to learn what you really need to fix and upgrade. Nothing worse than spending money to upgrade something, that you later find out you don't use at all, when you have found something you wish you had that money to use for.

Sounds like y'all have it going on. But, quit fixing stuff and get going. Trust me, you'll never have every single thing fixed.

I'm 56 and my biggest regret in life is that I didn't do what you are doing right now when I was younger.

I'm pretty jealous.
