I'm looking to replace the bow combination sidelight, I believe something close to an AquaSignal Series 40, and the anchor light, I think a Perko.

I'd like to go LED and would also like to stay pretty close to the current installation details. We're in a full court press getting ready for Bermuda in May and I don't want to have to re-invent a bunch of foundation details.

Thanks for any info on systems or experience you've had.

Just buy a new led fixture. Any of the major manufacturers make decent products. You can try just changing the bulbs, but frankly it isn't worth it, the fixture is exposed to water intrusion so there is always a risk of water contamination. And unless you know exactly which bulb you need and get you run the risk of non-conforming with regulations.

That's my question: What LED anchor light and sidelights have folks installed and are they happy with them? Specifically any fixtures that mount to the Aqua Signal Series 40 mount for the running lights, and a Perko pole mount (2-screw base about 2-5/8"L).

Ryan,
Our aqua signal light on the bow was cracked, and we replaced it with a Lopolight. They are pricey but fully waterproof and completely sealed to the elements. It is also extremely bright - like having a colored headlight.

For mounting I made a simple mount from starboard and attached it to the original pulpit bracket. I have been really happy with this light. Installation was pretty easy overall.

On the aft light I installed an LED Bebi light (no longer in business) inside the existing Aqua fixture. We installed a Bebi anchor light as well, but that doesn't help you now.

You might consider a top of the mast tri-color and anchor combo. When we sailed to Mexico from San Diego we noticed that we could easily see the boats with mast mounted tricolors from miles away, but the boats with lights on the bow and stern were invisible much of the time when we or them were in a wave trough.

Either way the LEDs made a huge difference in power usage at night. With chart plotters, fridges, autopilots, AIS, radios, interior and exterior lights, etc., you use A LOT of power on passage. Every amp saved makes a difference.
