I just got a 'new to me' 38' catamaran in NY and I need to find it a home for a few months. Insurance says I must stay north of Norfolk until November so I want a long slow sail south. If I get my timing right, I'd like to see the Annapolis boat show from the water for once. But until then I need a month or so close to a commercial airport and cheap. So far I'm finding the rates to be higher than what my boat is worth. Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks.

You'll probably do better $-wise nearer to Philly than You'll find near NY. There's a few members here who keep their boats near Philly.

In the NY area you could try Lincoln Harbor, they cut me a decent break late in the season when I 1st brought my boat up here. I think Janer Vasquez is still the Dockmaster. Restaurants, Ferries, light rail and easy access to all airports there.

There used to be a couple of Catamaran slips on the Schrewsbury River @ Sandy Hook Bay Marina. Not sure how they built back after Sandy. Seastreak ferry to NY down the street.
You could check slip or mooring availability at the Atlantic Highlands.

If you're planning on ending up in the Chessy, why not consider norther parts, close enough to the Baltimore airport. I don't have experience with it, but I have to believe there would be some options less expensive that NY by a long shot.

Try Gateway Marina. Across (west) from Floyd Bennett Field, within sight of JFK. Access by the F train and then a short taxi or bus ride if you don't want to hike a mile or two.

Access can mean a lot of shoal water but that shouldn't be a problem for a cat. Used to be about the cheapest marina in all of NYC as well.

Which airport;
Newark NJ try Raritan Bay
BWI; upper Chesapeake near Baltimore (check for public transit)

PHL; Essington on the Delaware River #37 bus is a few blocks from Anchorage Marina with stops at all the airport terminals, airport train station and local train station. #37 bus goes to South Philadelphia and trains go to center city.

Anchorage is OK with liveaboards and boats can be in the water over winter.

If you miss your flight it will pass over the marina before the wheels go up.
