I've purchased a project 21' pocket cruiser, completely gutted and with no
identification anywhere. My question is, was a bulb keel version of the Cal 21
ever manufactured ? There is also an outboard well in the aft section of the
cockpit. Any ideas with what this is would be appreciated.

Sounds like a Cal 20 - they had bulb keels and cockpit wells .. flush deck, solid stable little boats.

If the boat is pre-68 model then you may not find any kind of HIN. They weren't required prior to that.. but Cal 20s were built from '61 to '75 so you might.

In the 60s and 70s we had a sailing school here that used Cal 20s.. they had a standing offer of $1000 to any student that could lay the boat on its side in any breeze .. AFAIK no one ever collected .
