Hello fellow sailors!

I am contemplating a move from the Tampa Bay area to Ft Lauderdale due to a job offer. I have a 23.5' Hunter and it works great sailing in the Gulf and in Tampa Bay but I am unsure how suitable it would be for sailing in Ft Lauderdale.

Could anyone provide information about sailing in the Ft Lauderdale area? I have researched the internet and it appears that the only day sailing close by would be in the Atlantic. Biscayne Bay appears to be a good sailing area but not sure if it is reachable for a day sail.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Safe sailing,

Conch Enigma

I live in Fort Lauderdale. Honestly, sailing is a lot better where you are. While the Bahamas are closer, the day to day sailing is just boring open ocean. Up and down the coast...no real anchorages. Gets a lot better when you get down to Miami and Biscayne Bay. Also, your boat is a small for open water that youll face in FTL. Im 34', and I get bounced around on marginal days. You will have to pick your day and tides...if there is a strong east wind, and outgoing tide, you will not make it out the inlet, it is nasty.
