Have only been on a sailboat once a few years ago. Have owned a couple of powerboats (stll have one). Been lurking here a whille and am thinking of jumping over the fence. Amazing amount of knowledge and helpful people here.

Welcome to SailNet. Should you decided to slow it down and raise the sails, there is a lot of experience within the membership and as you said, helpful people.

Don't worry about choosing the right boat. Learn to sail first. Buy an inexpensive boat you won't be afraid to ding and get on the water. Join a local club to experience different boats. The more you learn the more you'll figure out what you do and don't want in your own boat.

Now that we're buying our third boat, it was a lot easier to choose than our second. Rarely does anyone sail or own just one.
