New CAL 21 Owner with Photos this Time

Pictures of a CAL 21 I acquired. I see a problem at the top of the mast. My son and I tried to raise the mast as I had written in a different threat and the forestay seemed too short. I must be doing something wrong. I haven't had time to measure the forestay, yet.

One important point to watch when stepping the mast on a CAL 21 is to be sure that all turnbuckles are properly positioned (be sure toggles are standing up, toggles are the "U" shaped parts that the clevis pins go through on the bottom end of the turnbuckles). You may want to wrap a bit of tape around the shroud toggles to keep them upright, Next, ALWAYS check to make sure that the backstay has not become hooked on the mainsheet cleat on the afterdeck. We bent our backstay turnbuckle a couple of times when we got it hooked on the cleat.
Everything in your pictures looks fine, but that is based purely on the pictures not actually being there in person. You may need to loosen the backstay turnbuckle as well as the forestay to get things to line up the first time.
