I will be doing a complete rebuild of cabin, deck core, deck refinish, bottom pain, and standing rigging along with mast repaint. Basically a complete restore. I have questions about deck stiffening in crucial areas while I complete the balsa core restoration.

 

Do you mean keeping the deck stiff while you do the repair, or making it stiffer after the repair?

 

I have the stiffening cover while repairing. But, I wonder what areas may benefit from some extra support? Since I am glassing, may as well do some mods.

I ordered the book The Elements of Boat Strength: For Builders, Designers, and Owners, Gerr, Dave. I also have the other ones by Don Casey, but they don't go into mods or improvements.

 

Dang... just noticed all the post in the maker section of S2 is all 2 years or older! Is there not anyone using this platform and gone over to reddit?
