I have been boating most of my life on inland waters. I spent several years teaching diving on inland and ocean going boats, owned several boats, chartered a number of power boats, taken sailing lessons on the great lakes as well as crewed a Salty Dawg rally from Hampton to Tortolla. I have a good level of experience to start with.

However, converting to my own sailboat, a 1978 Tayana cutter rig, is a bit of a different matter. The boat is in excellent shape for the age. The rig, transmission and engine have all been gone through. Sails are good and the hull is solid. She is well equiped as the owner of 20 years basically just decided to retire due to advancing years.

I am looking for a Captain, preferably a woman as I prefer to learn from a woman and better company (sorry guys). Rest assured I am not looking for anything else, no hanky-panky, just someone to really spend some time getting me comfortable on the boat. I may be single handling sometimes and I need someone who really knows that type of boat.

I am also a Master Scuba instructor so if you can dive ...bonus points.

The boat is in Fajardo, Puerto Rico and I plan on heading out around January 10th. Plans are flexible but I am thinking the Spanish Virgin Islands then The USVI/BVI.

I am offering to fly you round trip as well as pay all boat expenses, including food both on and off the boat. I will also pay you $550 per week in cash for your assistance, training and time.

I am not an expert on this site so I guess just hit me up if you might be interested and I can go forward from there.
