Hello everyone, obviously this is a whole new world for us but it's what we have always wanted to do.We recently(as in 8/10/09) bought our first boat a Tanzer 8.5 (Circe),we live in key west and are very eager to start learning everything we can about this new lifestyle. We have been researching sailing and living aboard for years, then in period of about 2 weeks we moved out of our apt. and onto our new boat,it's taking a little getting used to but we truly love being on her and can't wait to start getting some time sailing under our belts. We have to very dear friends who are avid sailors(they have a 45' Gulfstar) and are more than willing to teach and help us in any way possible.Anyway we just wanted to say hi and to ask if there is anyone who knows anything about the Tanzer 8.5,there doesn't seem to be alot of info about them(not that i can find anyway). Not wanting to know anything specific yet just some opinions about these boats. Thanks in advance for any info and help. The previous owners took great care of the boat and did extensive upgrades on her, press. cold water, new teak interior, all new electrical upgrades, new top plates, etc. to many to list. thanks again and hope to hear from some of you soon.

As you may know already, the Tanzer is a Canadian built boat. They are known as a well built boat as well as quick. You might google for more information - they are quite common up here and I'm sure there is some sort of users group for them. If you can't find more information, let me know - a couple of boat brokers up this way have lots of experience with them.

Welcome aboard, Rick and Lisa. This is a great forum and you'll get lots of good info/advise here. Hundreds of years of experience here. Truly awesome!!

Sounds like you guys jumped right into the deep end with such a radical change in living quarters.:D I really envy you. I'm currently landlocked but sail a small boat on a small lake near here. My dream? To sell up within the next 12 months, buy something in the 30-34 foot range, move aboard and cruise extensively. You inspire me. Keep posting on how the liveaboard life works out.

Fair winds,
