More fun lately. We're getting down to the bones and finding less issues than anticipated.

You can see how dry this old wood is.

Broken deck frame

The cockpit hangs on three rods per side, interesting...

Getting into the bridgedeck where the decking was soft. No rot underneath.

Starboard quarter

Port forward

Bow sans bowsprit, sure looks strange...

The Rockwell Sonicrafter has been and will continue to be invaluable. BTW, the blades are fairly cheap at $44 per 3-pack.

Okay, I gotta know...what tunage are you blasting while you work?
We only get one station on my little box, Classic Rock...

I gotta upgrade the sounds...
Like Boston/Foghat classic - or Tull/Deep Purple classic?
He has a tape he plays over and over by some group called "Demolition Crew" or something like that..:p
In no way belittling your efforts nor downplaying what you have taken on but this is starting to look less of a nightmare than you might have first imagined ???

Hard and dry is surely a whole heap better than soft and soggy.

It's a mix of everything.

Actually Andrew, it's looking pretty good. If I would've carried on the way it was, it wouldn't have. I caught her in time to avoid major rot. That first area I dug out is by far the worst of it.
My respect goes out to you, mate. I would have had a huge heap of firewood a long time ago.

I hope I get to see the final result.
Pretty admirable of you to save that boat Charlie... If I were nearby I'd be there helping you! I'd like to mention to others looking at your progress.. try to imagine the skills used and applied to create such a vessel! The carlins and blocking joints are tight as they were on day one.
Oh, I love wooden boats!
I'm amazed everytime I peal something else off and see the complexity of the build. This has been a cool passage. I've learned and am still learning a ton about boat construction, especially wooden ones. I'm beginning to understand the draw of wooden boats better too. There's NOTHING that can't be repaired or replaced on a wooden boat which means they can last forever...
