Hey guys my boat has one mount that has degraded. The yard has one around (new) they can use to replace it, is this alright ? Or should I wait and have them order all four. The others seem in good order, the one I THINK HAD HAD OIL SPILT OVER THE YEARS AND OBVIOUSLY STARTED TO DISINTEGRATE.
Thanks for any thoughts.

I'd probably replace them all while I was at it, the bulk of these jobs is usually labour costs and I can't imagine it is significantly more to change all four over one. You'll only have to do the other three in future anyway and I would think you want all of your mounts of a similar age to make sure they balance properly.

I would leave toward getting the four done. One less thing to go wrong.

You're going to need to realign the coupling so I'd replace all of them if more than 5 yrs old. No sense doing it again in a short time unless the other mounts look to be in excellent shape.

I agree with the others. This is a fairly labor-intensive job, with most of it being in the removal and proper re-installation of the engine. Removing the mounts and installing the replacements is likely to be a small fraction of the total cost. Better to only pay it once, unless you NEED to put off doing the other 3 for some reason.

well at the bare minimum you should replace in pairs, think of shocks in a car, you never replace 1 you replace opposite side in pairs

but if you feel lazy and dont want to realign by leaving 3 in place you can do so and just replace 1 the issue with this is that 1 or 2 or 3 of the remaining mounts will likely fail soon...

having said that you will have to realign no matter what so might as well do the four and be happy

If it was me i would do it my self . Then you only need to change one.
So long as you can reach it ,and not have to lift the motor only support it
you probably wont have to re aline it .
But if you cant do it your self and have to pay it would be better to do all 4
Hope this helps

the problem with changing 1 although doable is you have disimilar damping characteristics

while yes it can be done and since you have 3 legs still in places an alignments isnt mandatory per se the issues

is in short time the 3 older ones will be shaken to bits since they dont damp as well as the new one

diy for sure just do it wisely...

I agree with you on all counts ,makes more sense to replace all 4 if you can
happy to listen to older wiser heads :)
