Here's a newsreel for the 1968 Observer Single-handed Trans-Atlantic Race:

Found this the other day, from the 1980 OSTAR:
I'm going to start dressing like that when I sail. Wait, I already do.

And here's another from 1980 about two sailors from some country north of America proper, competing in the same race: https://www.nfb.ca/film/singlehanders One boat loses a gigantic chunk of hull but keeps going. The other one takes so long he even runs out of cigarettes.

I love this older stuff. Does anyone know of any more early videos from this race? Please post them here if you find them.
