All motors need to be proped correctly (able to run at correct RPM with normal load )


BUT 4 cycle outboards are more likely to have problems if the wrong prop is used and generaly the standard prop is on the BIG side to push a sailboat

Follow the instructions and read the manual from front to back for best results.

Just think of the money the manufacture could save by not printing it.

Just a recommendation, If you are going to be using it in saltwater pull and lube all the power head an lower unit bolts. It will make it easier to remove for maintenance down the road. Something they don't tell you in the manual.
