I read that the propellers that come on outboard motors used as sailboat kickers aren't propped correctly for displacement boats. Does anyone know where to get different pitch propellers for a Honda 8hp outboard and what the proper pitch would be for a 4,000 pound 24' sailboat?

You can probably get a few different pitches for that at Piranha.com, which sells the composite Piranha propellor. I'd try a 9.5" x 5 or 9.5" x 7 to start with.

I have found that the Solas High Thrust props work well in these instances. I have one on my 8,000 pound HR28, and the 9.8 Nissan pushes her better than the old OMC 15 (with 5" pitch "sail" prop) did. That's a motor size down, and better thrust.

But wading through their prop finder on the website can test your patience...
