Should I try for three rings of 3/16 inch or stay with two rings of 1/4? I have both available but am unclear as to what is optimal.

In the PSC 34 owners manual on the page with the shaft sizes for the boats (maybe p.46), it says, 'Note: Pkg flax size 3/16" '.
