Hi,

I've been trying to find answer to this question but haven't been able to do so. I am currently in US and would be going home to Macedonia next year, which is a land locked country. I would either want to buy a boat from the US and ship it over, or buy a boat somewhere in Greece or another EU (European Union) country. Can someone please explain to me, or point me to some resources as to what is the process involving paper work after I purchase the boat, like registration, inspection, the flag of the boat, customs, etc.

Thank you!

You will need to find out the Macedonian regulations regarding boat registration and importation of boats. If you were to buy an American documented vessel, you would be required to 'undocument' it and get a certificate of ownership to take home to register that vessel.
I really can't see it being financially worthwhile to buy a boat in the US and ship it, when Greece is in such a financial melt down. I'm sure you could get a pretty good deal on a Greek boat right now.
Good luck.
