I need to know how Pearson installed the optional 40 gallon water tank in the bow of the 323. Can anyone provide details of the installation or perhaps a digital photo?

Thanks,

Jim :)

Jim,

I've moved this thread from the SBD&C forum to the Pearson forum. The SBD&C forum has some fairly specific topic limitations that this thread does not meet.

If you'd prefer this thread be moved to Gear&Maintenance, just let us know.

jand,

Here you go, this should answer your question. Its a website about the restoration of a Pearson 323, its pretty in depth and probably has what you are looking for.

I have this website and many others listed at my own website, Sailing and Such. Check it out too and you will probably find it helpful.

You can find the Pearson 323 website here.

Good luck!

My Water Tank is molded in

The water tank in my P-323 is molded into the hull. It has since been converted to a holding tank - which I am not sure was the smartest thing to do.
Bear in mind that my boat is hull #2. They could have changed design later on to a free standing tank, but not sure.

I am not sure that Sailnet really has an interest in Pearson owners. They have deleted all of the previous forum activity, Most Pearson owners have moved on to Yahoo Pearson groups and Google Pearson groups. You can find a lot of neat information on Pearson 323 - A wealth of information on the P323. Also try PearsonOwners.com - Home

Mike,

Thanks for the info; I'll check each of them out. Do you mean that your bow tank is molded out of fiberglass or is it a Kracor polyethelene tank which has been encapsulated in fiberglass?

Thanks again,

Jim

Not Sure

I haven't owned the boat that long, nor have I really taken a close look. I assumed it was fiberglass molded. Next visit, I will take a closer look. The Port and Starboard water tanks appear to be the same, but again, I never looked that close.

323 bow tank

My 323 (hull # 316) has a molded poly bow tank. I believe it is 40 gal. It is held down by straps.

Didn't see any help on the 323 restoration site-- looks like they're just getting started. If you still need photos let me know. I'll check back with this page.

bow tank

Was down at the boat after posting yesterday and looked at the tank: it's not as I remembered. It's not held in by straps like the side tanks. It sits between low bulkheads forward and aft of the tank, and is held down by plywood strips about 4 in wide glassed to the hull sides. The fit of the tank athwartships is snug to the hull sides, as the tank is shaped to the same angle as the bow.

Clear as mud?
