That's a Steriling Hayden trick.
I was thinking the same thing. Except Hayden had custody of the kids, the judge just wouldn't let him take them on a boat trip. And, he went anyway.

That's exactly what I was thinking- I had to re read the article to get the timing figured out. The arrest warrant was filed Sept. 12 and he was tracked down October 29th. That is roughly 53 days to sail over 5,000 nm. With only a 9 year old boy aboard.

I understand the angst that can cause that type of behavior. Often, a judge has to decide who, between two perfectly fine parents, gets to keep and raise the kids.

It often seems to be more of a coin toss decision than anything else without clear evidence of neglect or abuse on one side. Easy to understand how the losing parent can be bitter, (or even decide to ignore the decision).

You don't see many happy divorce decrees where kids are involved.
