I have tried to figure out how to make the
personal page stick and haven''t been able
to do it so I''ll introduce myself with this
under the General topic.

I am dhartdallas, 58, just signed up. I am
a relapser. After two years living aboard at
Buzzard''s Roost Marina (B Docker), John''s
Island, Charleston, I sold my boat, moved
back to Dallas and settled down (solo).

I bought a computer recently, started taking
courses for it, and got on line. I was setting up my "Favorites" and before I realized what I had done, I had ten sailing
entrys in it. Now I''m looking for a boat
and smelling salt air. Is there no end to
it? Can it be cured?

I''m glad to be aboard, and I look forward to
sailing with you. There are some serious
and knowledgable sailors in this crew from
what I''ve read.

See you topside.

Ahoy dhartdallas, you have found the best site in my opinion for us sailors. There is only one cure I know of and it is when you lie at the bottom of Davie Jones Locker. It does not matter that you are land locked at present for it is better to have sailed than never to have sailed at all. I have always found that sailing even a tiny dingy in the spaces of lubberness helps with the feeling of land sickness. Welcome and sailing this electronic boat may help. Big Red.

Welcome aboard, if you''re in the market for free sails perhaps Skipper Pete (AKA Homer)can give you the correct bearing and distance.

Ahoy, Big Red! Thanks for the welcome.
You wouldn''t be a Parrot Head by any chance,
would you? You sure sound like one. I must
have missed something coming late. Sounds like you are in a spat with someone. That was
proper challenge you issued. That''s how
sailors ought to solve their differences.
Give him dirty wind and a foul wake. Show him your transom, mate. Thanks again.

Thanks for the welcome. And thanks for the
info. Free sails? What''s the catch? We are
talking sailors here. Ha!

Ahoy, JeffH. You weren''t kidding about this
kettle of fish. Including the archives, you
could read for three months and not read all
that''s here already plus what keeps coming in. The theory and fundamentals you can get
anywhere. There is lots of it. But the
wealth of information in here about little
things, fixes, jury rigs, maintenance and
repair, etc., etc. from all these people just
"messing about in boats" for years is invaluable. There is nothing like the experience of doing something for years, huh?
I''ve spent so much time here I should have
shares in the place. I''m loving it. Didn''t
take me long to back into it. Thanks for the
welcome. Hope I can contribute something.
Did you catch my comments on sail trim for
beginners and my advice tothe new lawyer who is thinking about buying his first sail boat?
What did you think? I''m new to the forum so
any tweak you can give my style would be
appreciated. Catch you topside.
