Careful, with the world's attention on the persistent piracy problem (at least somewhat), encouraging that behavior could be construed as abetting!

HA!

Reminds me of how I bribed my then 5 yo son into sailing with us. I dressed him and his friend up with stuff, plastic helmets and shields, gave them each plastic sword and told them "We're going looking for pirates!". They loved that and they'd romp around planning their attack on some poor guy who just happened to fishing nearby. When we sailed by all he saw was two kids screaming at him and waving swords. In time my son went to sailing camp which was ok, but I think he had more fun being Pirate.

I never had to lure the kids to go sailing, mainly because they were born and sailed all their lives, so they don't know any better, BUT...I do remember once or twice, when Fred (mu oldest now 11), was 4 or 5, we used to take my previous boat and sail past the many Forts, fortifications, watch towers and castles built on ours shores, and I used to tell him how those forts were built to protect the coast from the Arabs (moors), as our Kings even up to 1780 were affraid the Arabs would invade again, (since we managed to scare away any Spanish maritime invasion, and Napoleon cam by land).

We wuld then pretend we were attacking them using the spi pole as a cannon...

here is one of the forts

then one day I made this so he would enjoy the spi

Now..my oldest sails in same waters 3 times a week
