I would like to discuss boatbuilding with someone who has done it or is in the process.
I have built a br 38 and stressing over deck layout plans based on old plans!
FRP foam cored hull, wood epoxy, cored deck , deck steped mast, etc. Anyone?
I would like toknow more about the coments about the skegs failing on br offshore 38 cutters. I have built one and although it has never been wet, makes me curious! My shast is 1 3/4 inch solid 316 ss. Custon stuffing box at upper shast and custom bronze foot bushing.
I have a cutter rig layout , yes it is the bruce roberts offshore 38 and built faithfully to blue water standerda.
This is the question. I have many years and effort into this boat. Do I part it out or does the hull design have merrit? Your or others opinion would assume quality of construction but assuming that , what is the public view. Im out of here shortly and dont want to leave them with anchor!
Thanks,
its my latest diagnosis and the reason I dont have the energy to finish my work. But it kept me going for 30years.
I will send you pics. Just for your interest.
thanks for your help
I did a search, br38 , skeg problems came up on this site.
I was adavanced because the coments I was answering to were 2 years old . Now I am talking with people!!.
I know lots about boatbuilding. Sailing, not so much!
you dont know me and I dont know you but I would like to show you what I know and have done, in exchange you might advise me.
you seem to care about boats in general, as I have..
the other part is heart related. Hahahaha
Ron,
thanks for your response
I have every book and since the internet most sites.
what is your biggest boat project!
no offence but if you havnt hand laid up 7 drums of resin, its a project, not a boat building thing.
changed a hatch? Good info for me. Gotta Installl 15 plus..
yoy want me to be moŕe specific, an entire build requires more.
envision doing everything on your boat from scratch!
I still need info from the community out there but I do know what im doing.
