Yanmar 1GM10 -Dumb question, but cant find the answer by searching so here it goes. I just noticed I have liquid (clear water I assume, no gunk) in my Rancor filter bowl and need to drain it obviously. Perhaps I should pay more attention-no idea how longs its been there.

Anyway-Is it normal to have to bleed the fuel system after this. The bowl is almost full. Is it all water in the bowl, or all fuel, or a mix? Is this as simple as it seems or should I expect a little more work (bleed)? Thanks.

its going to be water, oil and water dont mix. yes keep an eye one it and keep it drained, if it keeps filling you need to look for water intrusion in to the tank

Thanks

Thanks Scott, I should have probably thought about the oil/water mix thing before I typed that. So I shouldn't have to expect to bleed or just drain it and go?

hey- did you ever end up making that wheel brake installed we were talking about a while back? I ended up buying one but have yet to put it on. Another Hunter owner on my dock has the same brake and it seemed to work well.

no too many real things going on. i even totally forgot about it with the exception of a few passing thoughts.

and yes you should be able to just drain it, unless your tank is way lower.

As implied previously, look at the relative height of the fuel tank compared with the Racor - if the filter is lower than the tank bottom, simply open the petcock and drain until you see clean fuel coming out. The tank will gravity feed the filter and no air will enter the filter.
If the filter is above the tank, you will more than likely have to bleed the low pressure side which is easy.
If you do find lots of water in the filter, consider draining or pumping the tank bottom to inspect and remove any water there.
