If you plan to do much cruising leaving the dinghy at dinghy docks when going ashore, I'ld leave the paint on. It reduces the chances of it being stolen. I've got cetol splatter on my Achilles and though about removing it, but a friend who had made one circumnavigation told me to leave it as is for that very reason.
