Thanks SmackDaddy, and sorry about the graphic pictures...didn't even dawn on me about the graphic nature of the pictures and posting them because its something we've dealt with for so long, and being a nurse, I've seen some bad stuff - so stuff like this is another day at the office. But I understand how people can get a little freaked out by it.....hey, its just raw meat and tendons, right?

Stay tuned, blog's getting updated more frequently since were down here at the boat indefinitely and I'll have yet another refit video coming by the end of this week....one day, I'll start making sailing videos!

I think I've read the 13'6" Hammerhead ones weigh around 235 lbs., but ours is only 11'6" long with a max rating of 40 hp - but its still the Hammerhead version....but to me, it weighs somewhere in the 150 lb range....but maybe I'm just stronger than I think Yeah, should be a fun boat....but with only 15 hp...not sure if we'll be doing like the guys in the picture.

'only' 15hp... well, I'm pushing the Taka around with an ancient (1959) Elgin 2hp OB, so you're a helluva lot faster than me

I take care of it, just like all my OB. My Hobie Skiff has a 1985 50hp Yammie 2-stroke, it runs good too.

Flush (well, the Elgin isn't water cooled so it gets rinsed) in fresh

Don't use old fuel. If I'm not going to be using the OB for a bit, I run the carb dry. And I use fresh fuel, no older than a week. The Elgin gets a pretty oily mix so I don't have to be as religious about the age of the fuel. I also add SeaFoam to my tanks.

Use them. I have a friend in the OB repair biz who says the best thing for an OB is to run the sh!t out of it.

Just want to let you know I enjoy your blog and have been following along...

I applaud you for being so candid with your costs. It has definitely helped me. It was a shock to learn the cost of dry storage.

If we run into each other "out there" I will definitely buy you a beer.

Thanks travellerw....I always appreciate kudos....it really means a lot to me. And I've heard this more than a few times about how people do like how I was so honest about my costs - and it was a little uncomfortable to write it (not sure why) - but I figured that people wanting to do the same thing may want to know the real costs of doing business - and it has proven to be one of my most "hit" posts to date. Thanks for taking the time to write such kind words...and I'd be happy to drink any beer you'd like to buy me.
