Go to a hardware store and buy the adaptor(s) needed to go from female thread to 1/2" barb for the H and C fittings on the new fawcet. Or get a threaded cap for the hot if you don't have hot water. They'll be brass or nylon. Use teflon tape on the threads. Bring the new faucet along if you aren't sure of the thread size.
You shouldn't have to cut or modify anything.
