i recently bought a (1969) columbia 28 ft, she has an atomic four that runs pretty well. but i think eventually i will have to either replace (with a used diesel) or rebuild. i''m trying to get a ball park figure, so i can start saving now (ha ha). i''ve heard of people replacing their boat before they would replace an engine. any advice would be great. thanks.

I''ve been getting prices on replacing my Volvo diesel. Used ones of any make seem to be non existant. I''ve adv. and put up notices at marinas and West Marine. New 18hp runs about $6000. Start saving! I''m thinking about hanging an outboard off the back and repowering (or not) later.
