I need recommendations, please. The wire jib halyard on our Bucc18 'birdcages' after repeated sail furlings and unfurlings. Too much of the wire is exposed outside the exit sheave box for any torsion resistance, and there's no good way to add one of those Harken-style anti-rotation paddles. The forestay IS the wire jib luff, and if you tension it properly, the least bit of sticktion on the head swivel trashes the wire halyard. (The lower halyard attaches to a hook on a tensioning device.)
So I'm thinking a 16' length of some 3/16"d high-tech line with an eye splice on each end is what's needed, here. If it twists, no big deal. What's type or brand of cord would you use? Amsteel? Technora? Spectra? I'm leaning toward 12-strand, just because it's so easy to eye splice at home, but please advise what's best for this application.
