I am retuning my rig with the furler ON. Have the mast centered athwartship and raked slightly aft. Am ready to adjust tension (have a Loos gauge), but realize the furler is in the way-I can slide it up a smidge, but cannot put the tension gauge in place to measure the tension on the headstay. Is it safe to assume the tension is correct forward if it is correct aft (wire diameter the same for and aft)?

Masthead rig and in line spreaders?
Almost, the angle between mast and stays are not the same so there is little difference.

use the loos on the shrouds. don't need to use the loos on the headstay. Headstay length sets mast rake which is used to balance the helm. backstay tension sets the luff curve of the jib sail. Loos can be used on the backstay as a reference or starting point for tuning the rig.
