Looking at replacing rod rigging with wire rigging but due to cost involved thinking of doing it in stages ie headstay and back stay this year followed by uppers, then followed by lowers. Any thoughts

Hav you dye-tested the rod heads to see how they are? It is not hard to do and the chemicals you need are not very expensive.

The test for the rod is to see IF it WILL take a new head in the machine

At this point If it does NOT you have no recourse BUT it would be failing real soon if this was the case

The threaded sections have the shortest rated life

about 60-70%
per an esprit 37 racing friend of mine who used rod rigging on his cruising boat...but raced that boat chute up while crossing oceans with his wife
