I recently purchased a 1993 Sabre 362 and on a recent blustery day found that when on starboard tack and heeling 25 +/- degrees, sea water backs up into the head sink and spills over onto the counter. Is this a design problem requiring closing the drain seacock every time we sail, or is there another fix?

I too have a 362 and have the same problem. This is a very common design issue. It is caused by the sink through hole being too far outboard. We solve it by closing the valve and enjoying the sail.

Or you might try an in-line non-return valve.

Get yourself a pliable stopper at the hardware store that fits the drain snugly. In most cases that will stop the problem.

We've had similar issues with previous and our current boat... closing the through hull is simply part of the 'presail' checklist. In case the through-hull doesn't fully seal under pressure, HyLyte's stopper sounds like a good idea.
