A little OT, but if you're storing sails anyplace that isn't inhabited daily?

Add in mothballs or other ways to discourage mice and rats from nesting in the sails. They love 'em, and they'll chew them into rags in short order.

Mothballs (para type) are classed as a toxic pesticide, if you put them in the boat and close it up for the winter, make sure to air it out well before going back in in the spring.
