I'm trying to set up a modem in windows 8 so that I can use my Iridum 9555 phone as a back up way to connect. There isn't any mention of window 8 in the sail mail setup instructions.
Any ideas?

Just bought a tough book and had them put on 7 for just this reason. Also don't know how to get sailmail through ssb with windows 8. Was advised by other cruisers to stay with 7.

What service provider are you using for your Iridium phone?

You can set up a 9555 in Windows 8 although it is fussy. Once you're connected to your ISP connecting to Sailmail is easy.

There isn't anything unique about setting up an Iridium phone through GMN. Some of the "click this, click that" directions might be a bit different, but all the configuration programs are the same.

Other than Windows 8.x being a general PITA you shouldn't have any real trouble.
