Figured I would keep this great question alive.... I am going to buy a jeep wrangler.... Preferably with as much rust and holes in it I can find. Weld a mast to the roll cage and sail it around the world. My question is what size sail should I use? Do you think I can keep it afloat with over inflated off road tires alone or should I equip it with pontoons? Please help I am looking to leave next week.

Don't forget to install a winch. You can use that to troll for fish as you sail along. And if things get really bad you can use that to lasso the next super tanker that cruises by.

Just get a long Cb antenna, leave the fox tail on the end and rig your sails to it. Simple as that. The big tires will help in the shallow parts of the trip with extra speed

Be sure and outfit it with the latest Warn winch to retrieve the best rocna/manson/mantus/bruce/danforth anchor. Mount a 50 caliber on the rollbars to keep the pirates at standoff range. Are you going with the 4 or the 6 cylinder? Auto of manual transmission? At least you don't have to worry about the best dinghy or motor for it, just drive up on the beach!!! Flexible or rigid solar? Wind gen? Water maker? Well if it's just a 3 week trip I'm sure a YJ has plenty of tankage for that. Don't forget to post a crew wanted ad here for a nubile ex-stripper playmate gymnast that can stand watch and row a few thousand miles if you can't get the Jeep to plane with the spinnaker...
