I''ve seen a few of these listed and have no
idea of their construction quality or history. One is nearby and cheap...I''d like
some info before contacting the owner.

Seafarer''s are a real mixed bag. The company was started by Brian Akworth who was and airline pilot with a trans-Atlantic route. The original Seafarers were very high quality boats built in Holland. By the mid- 1960''s Seafarer had tooled up a whole new line of boats and were building them in Huntington, New York. There was a slow slide into poorer and poorer quality over time. I have sailed on a number of Seafarers over a the years. Some have been very nice boats with simple and slightly cold interiors but with a reasonable layout. Others have been pretty cheesy little boats. They all seemed to sail reasonably well but were not my idea of real great light air boats or really great heavy wind boats either.
