I had the same question so I googled it and they seem to be a slight extension of the bow roller framework that also tilts a bit to facilitate the dropping and retrieval of an anchor without the need to be forward. It seems to keep the anchor from contacting the hull. Looks like a good thing to me, as a single hander. I wonder how it looks installed.

yes, the self launcing bow roller seems like a pretty cool idea. I've seen variations on youtube and on the surface they appear to work pretty well. Essentially one could disengage his chainstopper and at that time the anchor would simply launch rather than having the need to shove it off the pulpit into the water. In theory it would be great for a single hander with an electric windlass that can be operated from the cockpit. Just push a button and lower the anchor without the need to go fwd.
