A few of of the portlights on my '86 Newport '33 are in need of resealing or replacing. My first mate has asked that I try to locate portlights that slide open to improve air circulation. Does anyone know if such a product exists? It's been suggested that portlights that open in the salon are a bad idea in the event of a knock down. Any info or thoughts?:2 boat:

I've seen sliding ports on powerboats, but can't recall seeing them on sailboats.. These are difficult to seal up properly.

You can get opening ports with good gasketing that can be opened to allow for ventilation.. Lewmar, Beckson, Bomar, and others all produce them. Many come with screens as well, nice to have air flow and keep the bugs out.

They'll be a bit costly, but.....

Great lakes skipper has some different size opening ports that are not too expensive. I was going to go that route till I got my old windows apart and am going to be able to reuse the frame.
