Our plans to cross the Pacific this year have had to be postponed and we plan to go south from Panama to Ecuador, Peru and perhaps Chile.

I know what the pilot chats say but has anyone any personal experience with this route?

We only went as far south as Ecuador which was pretty easy, if slow sailing. We met a couple of boats that were going to southern Chile and they both went Ecuador, Galapagos, Easter, Valdivia. I think they believed the pilot chart. We went via land as far south as southern Peru, the coast line seemed quite forbidding with relatively few harbours along the way.
