I have 2 speakers that are about 6 inches in diameter each. This is a pretty ridiculous question but how do I wire them to play music on my boat? I have a large battery that could power them and an ipod that I could get the music from but can anyone tell what else I need to buy for this to all work. As you can tell, I know next to nothing about this kind of electronics so please try to word everything in a way that I would understand. Thanks everyone.

Hmm... where to start...

First, you'd need some sort of amplifier for the iPod to plug into. The amplifier would take the relatively weak output signal, whether it was from the headphone jack or the line-out from the dock connector, and strengthen it so that it could be used to drive the 6" speakers you have.

The best way to do this is to go out and purchase and install a stereo that has an iPod interface. Alpine makes a pretty good one, as does Pioneer and Sony.
