I was racing this last Saturday offshore in San Diego. The boat i'm on won three weeks ago and even beat the entire fleet "except for one trimaran, which we don't normally count" according to the owner. Although if we beat him we would gladly take credit for "beating even the trimarans."

So i knew besides being colorful this is a fun boat to watch. When it tried to pass under the lee of a big boat its roll on the fleet was momentarily stopped, so I jumped below and grabbed my camera. It dropped back got up momentum passed through the lee then took off.

Re: Spectacular speed on this Trimaran

Total elapsed time to pass under the lee of a the huge boat and then pass another half dozen or so boats was about 70 seconds.

That's Jerry Fiat's "JAIL BREAK" F-32SR trimaran, I do believe? If it's JB, she has quite a history
Yes it is Jail Break. I tried to find some info on the boat and the owner, all I found was he races out of the Great Salt Lake Yacht club, which I found interesting to see here in San Diego. I am intrigued to hear the story.

She is named JB because she liked to never got out of the fabricator's shop when she was being built, and I'm not sure of those details, but I do know there was some trouble when she was initially built;

She was brought down to Ft Walton to be commissioned and rigged. Randy Smyth built her sails. After she was launched, JB was docked behind Smyth's house, and was struck by lightning;

So JB was rebuilt, albeit not by the shop which originally fabricated her :) and now you see her as she is.

She's a beautiful, fast boat, and now she is enjoying the life for which she was made. Handsome Husband took a phone video of her launching at Ft W. She just floated on the water when they launched her, it was something to see. Quite a boat, JB, the only other Farrier that I'd ever want :)

edit: saw this video at Multihull Appreciation Society
