I topped off my tank last autumn but never put in any diesel stabalizer or whatever it is. Do I need to put in new diesel or is there a way to tell if the diesel is good or not?

You're good. Just put some biobore jr in to treat the tank.

You can have a test done, and/or have the tank scrubbed and the fuel filtered. See what folks have used in your area, something like Dr. Fuel Clean - The Cure for Diesel Engines

Prices can vary greatly, so shop around.

Mainesail just did a great write in another thread about tank condensation, his test showed no water in the tank. Bacteria is another story. My boat sat for two years, I had the fuel removed and the tank cleaned, glad I did

Assuming you have a fuel water separator filter, inspect the bowl and drain, if necessary.

since we have colder weather than most of you, the fuel is fine in the tank all winter. i just start the engine after launch & it runs fine.
