Stopped twice in Nov on the way south. Both times the mooring field was quite uncomfortable from sustained hi winds.
Great town to visit but long term on a mooring would not be ideal.
Not much room to sail inside the inlet and the inlet can get nasty and unsafe in a blow. Not a class A inlet.

Good info. By class a inlet you mean that their are days you can't get in or out?

Yes. I am speaking from limited experience of the area but I do hear this inlet can get difficult more quickly than the big inlets.
Going out you have the choice to not go but once out if things get snotty you stay out.

East coast Fl. Class A Inlets are:
Miami
Ft Lauderdale
Lake Worth
Ft Pierce
Canaveral
St Johns
St Marys
