I inspected it without taking the connectors off. It is in its own little box and looked very clean, indeed. But now that you mention it, I will loosen the connectors and jiggle them around to see if there is any corrosion in there. Thanks again!

Our Yanmar has a switch and a starter button. I had the exact same problem except that it would sometime just click. Sometime it would seam weak as if the battery was low. Most times it would start normally, repeated times in a row, and then do just as you describe. This went on for months. After checking all obvious connections, many times, I was puzzled. I then removed the key switch and the start button, from the panel, removed each wire and sprayed them with electronic cleaner after brushing them clean. No problems since and it has been six months now.

Remove them and clean them! Use a piece of sandpaper or a file to make the copper connectors shiny. Don't just jiggle them around.

If you read the link I provided, it answered that question. It's the fuse between the starter button or key switch and the starter solenoid. If it works sometimes, the fuse is fine, it is the HOLDER. Please reread what I linked you to.
And C34s are not the only boats with these issues. We just happen to document them to save every one else a lot of detective work!
