We recently moved from Virginia Beach to San Diego and decided to check out the Strictly Sail Pacific Show in Oakland April 10-13, 2014.
Having visited the Annapolis Sailboat Show numerous times, we incorrectly assumed that the Pacific version would be the same. Its a nice venue at Jack London Square however it was much smaller. Good selection of gear and we were able to hook up with the same Gill rep from the Annapolis show who outfitted us a few years ago. Funny that the sailing community is that small.
The highlight of the trip was the opportunity to meet Bob Bitchin with Cruising Outpost. The whole group was tremendously friendly and open. The 8 hour drive from San Diego was worth that alone. We hope to get to know those folks better in the future.
The center cockpit Hylas 56 was the star of the show.

Yeah the Left Coast isn't all that into boating or should I say Yachting, we have year round sailing so Opening day is no big deal, hell do we even have an opening day? I don't believe so. Thanks for the update.
