I would like would like to raise and lower the main and put in a single reef from the cockpit of my Taran 30. I,m thinking of sending the lines through the combing and cleating on top of the cabin roof. Any suggestions?

Why would you need to go through the coaming? I recommend you look at the article:

If you're going to go through all the trouble of leading lines aft, I would lead at least the mainsail halyard, topping lift, reefing lines for first and second reefs back to the cockpit. You really need to have both the reefing lines and the topping lift in the cockpit, along with the main halyard, in order to make putting a reef easier.

Any questions, pm me.
