Yes, I replaced 6 rivets in less than 10 minutes. Both ends are now tightened up, after becoming quite loose. The forces are spinnaker pole ends are shearing forces, so a rivet is perfectly well-suited to the task.

For the newbies if using stainless steel rivets in an aluminum pole be sure to coat the rivets with tef-gel or something similar to prevent galvanic corrosion.

rivet shear strength

Are you aware of published info on shear strength of stainless or aluminum (?) Rivets in aluminum spars?

The pole itself is usually in compression, not shear. The way the pole is fitted to the ends, there should be little load on rivets themselves.
